SOUTHMONT Game Time: 7 p.m. Place: Brebuef Records: Southmont is 7-4 after beating Hamilton Heights 35-14; Brebeuf is 7-4 after beating Blackford 42-14 First Meeting: Oct. 25, 2002 (Brebeuf won 13-10) Last Meeting: Oct. 25, 2002 (Brebeuf won 13-10) Last 10 Meetings: Brebeuf leads 1-0 Last Southmont Win: Never Overall Series: Brebeuf leads 1-0 Games at Brebeuf: Brebeuf leads 1-0 Notes: These two schools are meeting for just the second time… Both meetings have come in sectional play… Southmont is trying to win its eighth game of the season, a feat it has not accomplished since since doing it back-to-back years in 2009 and 2010… Southmont has never won a football sectional title… The Mounties are 9-9 in postseason play under Coach Hannum… The Mounties are 20-32 in postseason play… Southmont is 4-1 on the road this year, losing only at Danville… Southmont ran for a season-high 358 yards last week against Hamilton Heights… It marked the second straight playoff game the Mounties have rushed for more than 350 yards and the fourth time this season the Mounties have done that… The Mounties are averaging 6.0 yards per carry in 401 rushes this season… The Mounties are now averaging 217 yards on the ground per game… Reese VanCleave leads the ground game as he has rushed for 812 yards on 161 carries and a team-high 15 touchdowns, including three last week… Kyle Nunemaker has rushed for 568 yards on just 58 carries (9.8 yards per carry) and three TDs including the longest TD of last weekend in the state as he raced 88 yards… Hunter Chadwick has added 574 yards on 110 carries and five TDs.. Southmont has rushed for 27 TDs this season… Southmont’s defense has come up with 19 takeaways this season… Brebuef relies on the arm of senior quarterback Derrick Ozobu who has completed 148 of 268 for 1,677 yards and 14 TDs and has been picked off 11 times… He has had four games where he has thrown for 200 yards and two touchdowns… Last week the Braves went 1 for 1 thrown the air for 13 yards… Freshman Isaiah martin leads the ground game as he has rushed for 521 yards and four TDs… The top receiver is senior Jacob Pressler who has hauled in 61 passes for 712 yards and nine touchdowns, while Gabe Wright has caught 28 passes for 265 yards and two scores… Alex Potts is a kicking weapon as he has converted on 9 of 11 field goals and has also kicked 31 extra points.
