SOUTHMONT Game Time: 7 p.m. Place: Southmont Records: Crawfordsville is 0-4 (0-2) after losing to Danville 58-14; Southmont is 3-1 (2-0) after beating Frankfort 28-7 First Meeting: Oct. 11, 19747 (Crawfordsville won 43-0) Last Meeting: Sept. 16, 2016 (Crawfordsville won 21-13) Last 10 Meetings: Southmont leads 8-2 Last Crawfordsville Win: Sept. 16, 2016 (Crawfordsville won 21-13) Last Southmont Win: Sept. 19, 2014 (Southmont won 27-26) Overall Series: Crawfordsville leads 25-20 Games at Southmont: Southmont leads 13-9 Notes: These two schools are meeting for the 46th time… Crawfordsville dominated the series in the early days winning 19 of the first 22 meetings… Southmont’s first win in the series came in the third game when Harry Sykora kicked an extra point in overtime to win 21-20 on Oct. 8, 1976… Of the first 45 meetings, a total of 19 have been decided by seven points or less, including the last three… There have been eight shutouts in the series with Crawfordsville owning six of those… The last shutout came on Oct. 12, 2001 when Southmont shut out Crawfordsville 28-0… The two county rivals have meet every year since 1974 and twice in 2001 and 2012 as they meet in the sectional those two years… Crawfordsville has won the last two meetings after Southmont had ran off eight straight wins, tying its longest winning streak in the series… Southmont is averaging 273 yards a game on the ground and have the second and third leading rusher in the SAC as Reece VanCleave is ranked No. 2 with 389 yards (and seven TDS) and quarterback Hunter Chadwick is ranked No. 3 in the SAC with 367 yards and four scores… Southmont is averaging 31.2 points a game this season and Crawfordsville is averaging 8.5 point a game... Southmont is looking to start the season 4-1 for the first time since the 1997 season... A win on Friday would mean the Mounties would have its longest winning streak since it won seven in a row in 2011.
